They set a high bar for themselves

Pros

Great CEO, COO, and CFO; I wish they could be replicated throughout the company. Or have eyes and ears everywhere to see what happens behind closed doors.

Cons

Mercury sets a pretty high bar for the company and a high bar for its employees. I'm judging the company with the same high standard. - As others have pointed out, you rolled out a culture and value statement but don't enforce it. There's a C&V gap between individual contributors and the CEO/COO/CFO (others not named intentionally). There's a pool of C&V misfits at the VP level who can get away with anything because of their title. I've been insulted, degraded, and humiliated by a few of them more times than any human being deserves. I've also had the experience (more than once) of comforting a crying employee after a public humiliation session where the employee did nothing wrong - an action wasn't communicated beforehand and a VP blew up at an employee for not having psychic powers and coming prepared to a meeting to address that particular action. When I bring these types of issues up, I'm told "get over it and just do my job". On glassdoor, you would think there's an open door policy with no retaliation / punishment for reporting. That's not the case - potential employees interviewing with Mercury, beware. There's Mercury you see on the outside (great image) and a separate Mercury operating on the inside that's much less employee friendly - if you are exposed to the C&V misfits. I will add the disclaimer that if you're not exposed to the C&V misfits, it would be a great experience!!! - I'm not going to add much to the HR and IT comments others have noted on glassdoor, except to say that the recent criticism is accurate. - Mercury doesn't care about you as an employee as they go about their business. If you get steam rolled during their one of their initiatives, you're just a casualty on a piece of paper. As long as the end objective is achieved on time and on budget, that's all that matters. People don't matter.

Mercury Systems Response

We are grateful for all feedback. Positive or negative, we are listening. Thank you for taking the time to share this information with us. We are working to help people feel comfortable with communicating honestly and openly either through management or HR. We are on a journey and our goal is to put mechanisms in place that encourage more two-way dialogue. As an example, we have an “ask” feature on the 1M – a tab on the right-hand side of the site where you can submit questions or comments about anything and choose to be anonymous or leave your name for a direct response. Please also feel free to come and talk with me directly or any of us on the leadership team, as we are looking for ways to improve this situation and we need input from employees. We are compiling the feedback that we’ve received from most recent reviews and the functional leaders will be meeting with their teams to discuss further. Additionally, COO, Didier Thibaud, will gather his leadership team to discuss and address your comments and others’ specifically regarding conduct that does not align with our core values. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. -Mark, President and CEO

Pros

It's a paycheck and pays the bills

Cons

Can you believe a company that makes $100-$500 million a year did not even give their employees anything for Thanksgiving except a salty turkey lunch? What did we get for Christmas? A party for the kids! How about those who doesn't have kids? No bonus, no Holiday party .......nothing. Yet we are expected to work long hours with no OT because we are salary. You can put in 12 hours a day and they still think you are not doing enough.

Selfish and Untrained Management Staff

Pros

Co-workers are great and are team players

Cons

Too Much Untrained Management members that are only self rewarding. There is no acknowledgement of the employees that serve their reports on a platter for their upper management meetings. No organization, duplicated efforts being made by numerous employees, no wonder why overhead is so high. Oh and if you love working in the past, this is the place, their software system is something out of the stone age.
