Pros

Mercury is the best company I've ever worked for both in terms of culture and innovation. It feels so good to come to work every day and feel fulfilled by the opportunities to employ my expertise but also the business and what we do as a company. Management from the C-suite down really cares (most of them anyway) and wants what's best for the employees. It's like a family here but a family of overachievers. At Mercury, they push us hard to get results and many times you'll end up putting in well over your 40 hours each week, but it's balanced out by generous PTO and flexible work hours. This company is driving hard toward growth and success, it's just a question of whether you're in or out. I've worked at a lot of places and all the others either expect 100% from you and give nothing but disrespect in return or are so beaurocratic and afraid of stepping on others feelings, that nothing gets done. Mercury is the perfect balance of hard charging and human. I personally love this organization and I hope I have a LONG career here.

Cons

- HR, especially at the leadership level: There are a few individual contributors who are great, but for the most part it's a waste of time to talk to anyone on the team and expect anything positive to come from it. They are dismissive and don't listen to a word anyone says - whether it's feedback or a request for assistance with something - they turn it around on you. They think they have all the answers. They refuse to acknowledge their issues or that they even have any and it's really frustrating to see senior management let them get away with it and in fact protect/insulate them from any accountability. They are supposed to drive our culture and values through the organization, but they don't even abide by them. - Growth: it's been amazing to be a part of our growth but it's been tough too, to go through the transtitions so quickly. It's hard to keep up the pace sometimes.

Thank you! Your comments under pros really capture our culture. It is like a family here, and I love your term, “family of overachievers”. At Mercury, our employees invest in each other both personally and professionally across the business. I wish you continued success and contentment for a long time to come. Regarding your concerns, I appreciate your honest and thorough feedback and I am interested in speaking with you further. I would like some detailed examples of your experiences that made you feel this way so that we can investigate and work to correct them. I also understand that it can be challenging to adapt to steady changes but I will commit to championing your needs and anything that will enable you and your fellow employees to weather transitions more comfortably. Please reach out to me and share your needs so that I can help. Sincerely, Tarrah Ledoux Manager, Marketing Communications

Pros

Mercury does a lot of exciting work. Fundamentals of the business are very strong.

Cons

Silos. The further you are away from Andover, the less your contribution to the company is recognized. Network stability is a problem, making it difficult to get your job done. Mercury demands your life (forget any sense of work-life balance) and in exchange you get an insulting raise. Too many people telling other people what to do; not enough people getting the work done. Working at Mercury is like being at a small company that never figured out how to grow up. Chaos and dysfunction are far too common. A lot of rude managers (including people with director and above titles) that don't know how to treat people with basic human dignity.

We appreciate your feedback on Glassdoor. As always, if you have specific comments to your own role at Mercury it’s always best to go directly to your manager and/or to the HR Business Partner at your specific site. With that said, a couple of comments. We have worked hard to ensure we have a consistent Culture & Values, regardless of job role or location. We have seen in our most recent Culture & Values survey that most of our Mercury team have a strong sense of community and teamwork and understand how their specific job contributes to the overall strategy of the company. It’s very important however to recognize that we can always do better and that it is essential that all employees feel free to talk openly on public forums like Glassdoor as well as directly with your manager.

Thank you so much. We are glad that you value the challenging work and took the time to let us know! In terms of salary, we work very hard to ensure that we are competitive and that our employees take advantage of our total rewards philosophy. If you feel there is a discrepancy, we hope you feel comfortable to have a conversation with your manager or HR Business Partner.
