Unrealistic Expectations

Pros

Company is fast paced and growing quickly. Challenging work environment. If you work in HR or Marketing, please ignore the cons below as they do not apply to you.

Cons

Unattainable deadlines are given with limited resources. Forget work/life balance. Expect 12 hour days with work on weekends in order to attempt to meet the deadlines. No gratitude will be shown for your additional efforts.

Thank you for this feedback. Working at a high performance organization is never dull! We set the bar high and our employees never cease to exceed it. We make a point of recognizing and rewarding success but we understand at times the rapid evolution of our business may be challenging to manage. There are times where all of us will need to put in extra hours to accomplish a common goal, however, employees should know they are always empowered to determine how their personal and professional lives integrate.

Pros

Pay is a little higher, you will likely get a bump in your current job title which is just a recruiting tactic because they can't get employees. Word is out on the street and everyone is catching on that any job here is short lived. Yes they have some long term employees but they only keep them for their legacy knowledge otehrwise they would have enbe gone by now as well.

Cons

After you are drawn in by the offer of an inflated job title you wouldn't see elsewhere and higher pay. You will also get a % of salary company performance bonus, but they don't pay it because they cant perform. Customers are terminating contracts for non performance frequently. They will then suplement bonus nonpayment with employee stock awards that will never vest because you will likely be laid off before they do. I have seen 4 lay-off's in 3 years and I am on my 5th manager. Research it, that is fact.

I believe in Mercury but...

Pros

I feel Mercury is on a strong growth trajectory. It's a company you can be proud of. There's great work and a lot of great people. People come together when needed and do what needs to be done, but sometimes at the expense of other employees. The technology and products are incredible.

Cons

Compensation is competitive if you are working a 8-5 job. But most Mercury employees work crazy hours, not by their choice. HR claims compensation is competitive. And I agree - it's competitive if you work 8-5 and aren't made to put aside your life. If you demand employees give up their lives, is the same level of compensation appropriate? Is that really a fair comparison? Compensation should be in line with performance and behavior. It's not today. Mercury needs to be more process-driven and systematic in all aspects.

We appreciate your feedback. Mercury surely is on a strong growth path. A path that benefits our customers, investors and employees. In our Culture & Value statement we lead with “We deliver results. We are innovators.” But we quickly follow that with “We help and care for one another.” We take that element of our core culture statement very seriously. Our most recent internal survey attempts to measure, among other things, our ability within Mercury to support one another and work in a positive team oriented way. For the most part the results of that survey, while leaving room for improvement, very much indicate our Mercury colleagues feel we go out of our way to support one another. With all that said, we appreciate and respect your input that indicates some opportunities to do better. The best advice in situations like this is to have a direct and frank conversation with your direct manager and, if needed, with one of our excellent HR professionals. Thank you for your input.
