Pros

Location is great; Benefits are awful. Company just changed the "vested time" for the 401K to 4 years. It was 7 years, so I guess this is an improvement for new hires. But, no one stays here long enough to get vested. PTO is also very poor, and approval to take your earned time off (PTO) is often denied.

Cons

Most of the C-suite/VP's are dysfunctional and unprofessional. Toxic environment and bad behavior by leaders is tolerated and even encouraged. It's common for the C-Suite to throw temper tantrums, and others just have to stand there and take the abuse. Do NOT trust anyone. If you have a problem, keep it to yourself, and DON'T go to HR. I've seen employees go to HR, and the next day they were gone!

Great people, superior product and overall a progressive company with so much career advancement potential. The culture is fun, friendly and always makes waking up in the morning something to look forward to. Meritage Homes as a company are full of out of the box thinkers and are truly passionate about leading the industry in setting energy efficiency standards. I am so proud to work here!

I love working here! I have been with other national builders in the past and really feel like this builder is different. I am generally grateful to be here everyday! Big focus put on the team working cohesively, positive management team, generous benefits and vacation, I cant say enough about the company.
