Pros

The shop in Schfoield Wi was kind enough to give me the opertunity to learn welding and so much more! I see the poor reviews from previous employees, I was there about 7 years. I had walked out one day for a serious opiate addiction! I have no doubt that human resources would have helped me however I couldnt find the courage and had to much pride to talk to hr about it. If your the type of person who can get to work everyday on time and are not afraid to work... you will make some serious money. I made more at merrill iron in 1 week then I make now in 2 weeks! I was mostly a welder and got along well with alot of the guys. Alot of people do not understand what quality and production is! Merrill steel has very high standards. I would love another go at it, I should have known better a notice is critical to an employer and thay obviously deserve one! If you get a chance to work for this company jump on it! You will learn so much.

Cons

You are required to work every saterday when thay are busy.

Bonus money over safety

Pros

The wages are good. The type of work changes, there is little repetition. Some of the other employees are nice.

Cons

The little repetition makes for a very dangerous work environment. The safety department has a way of forcing the employees who gets hurt to work with the injury. For example an employee who had a hernia was told by the Dr. to sit, the safety department had this individual walking all over the shop carrying ladders and fire extinguishers. This resulted in a longer time to heal for the employee, and the safety department was fudging the report by saying the employee was back to normal work so the safety department can receive a larger bonus at the end of the year.
