Pros

Appears company has a ( hopefully moral) mission for communities served.

Cons

Micromanagement, false time length of training for new hires, managers only hear what comes out of their mouth, meetings never have addenda’s and are very poorly organized, you never know if it’s Jekyll or Hyde that you will get with each interaction from management throughout the day and week, poor support and setting up benefits and having a liaison clarifying your choices. Management patience only last until they decide and you will experience a lot of eye rolling and huffing loudly and demoralizing comments / interactions.

Pros

Metroplus will give someone without any experience a opportunity to get into the workforce, mostly because the pay is low. People who have experience require higher pay, and don't come here . Especially good for people looking to make lateral moves or transition into insurance. Benefits are pretty good. Nice building, but its in lower Manhattan so the commute can be long. I suggest that you get in, stay a year to learn what you can, then get out.

Cons

Toxic and cut throat atmosphere. Every day could be your last - you are definitely a cog in the machine here. Not a lot of trust and communication between departments is minimal. Lots of micromanaging and insecurity. Recently lost lots of good people due to pressure from above, including public embarrassment by your manager. Co-workers in other departments tend to ignore you when you need to reach out for some reason, so sometimes it is hard to do your job.

Pros

City benefits. And for the dull and lazy people: you will thrive here!

Cons

This is a quintessential city job. You are surrounded by people of questionable intelligence and character and there is so much buffoonery among the c-level execs. Poor behavior (like wasting time, refusing to take accountability) is encouraged and the good people usually end up leaving. You're scraping the bottom of the barrel here. This is an organization that has zero interest in improving itself and considers only short-term fixes to every problem, big or small. Countless hours are spent in meetings that don't go anywhere and with nothing to show for all the time wasted. Our members deserve better.
