Pros

City job, good benefits, good people. They genuinely want to help their members. Great customer service. These are the good health insurance industry folk. They do it not only as their job(s), but as people who care and want to contribute good in the world. You feel part of a team of people who want to do their best to help others and contribute in a positive way to their society.

Cons

Not always room to grow or contribute from a strategic standpoint, some supervisors are very closed off to suggestions and end up hindering potential corporate advancement.

Pros

I have been with MetroPlus for a year and a half. The benefits are great, and the staff is very friendly. We have a nice barbeque in the summer and holiday party in around Christmas. All the management staff have an open-door policy. Coming to work is a pleasure and there is always something to challenge you with.

Cons

A work from home policy would be nice icing on the cake.

Pros

- Management does not use "Rack & Stack" or "Rank & Yank" to assess employees - Predicable hours - Interesting and challenging projects - Real opportunities for job growth & training (not just a tag line) - Friendly co-workers who are not the "cut throat" wall street type - One of the last "true" pension plans available - No "micro-managers"

Cons

Tech positions are paid a little under market value.
