Pros

You can get away with doing very little work, if that's your thing. It's also very hard to get fired if you are anything but white. Nice cubicles, it's free to ride the bus/rail.

Cons

Most of upper management is not qualified, but appointed to their positions. No one really knows whats going on, but they still get promoted or moved laterally until they find something they're mildly good at.

Pros

Great benefits, standard 8-hour work days, major company to put on resume

Cons

Slow growth, salaries low compared to the private sector, easy to get stuck doing the same repetitive dull function, but easy to avoid if active enough
