Pros

Many students are great to work with; Benefits are solid; Ability to pursue a degree at no cost is helpful

Cons

HR is one of the lease communicative offices I have ever seen; You need to call multiple times, try likely 5 different people event to get a response that could be "I will call you back; There is a lack of work-life balance, expectations are too high for little pay across the board; Upper administration is out of touch with what mid-level managers and entry level professionals are doing and the time they spend on meeting impossible expectations; They never hire talent from within - if they do it is few and far between; Exceptional talent is lost due to low salaries or the internal mindset that the grass must be greener with an external candidate. Lack of staff support, lack of HR professionalism, lack of understanding, and low morale lead to increasingly high turnover. Living in an area that doesn't entice young professionals to stay Miami should really rethink how they do things and how they keep people. They are throwing away thousands of dollars with each search they complete.

Pros

Options to get free education. Great place if you are a White person

Cons

Not a great place if you aren't White. There is gender discrimination with some places being female dominated while others are male. Good luck getting a promotion. Not the best place for being non-White as the city is pretty racist and the campus is very segregated.

Pros

Good benefits and pretty good vacation sick leave

Cons

Poor parking and working in an environment where bullying is accepted by the Management and Unclassified staff. The whole office I worked in was absolutely toxic with employees complaining about our poor management yet laughing and cutting up with that person in meetings so they would be on the good side..Everyone was absolutely terrified of our so called Manager..complaints were made to the Managers boss but he didn't care and HR was of no help and neither was Equity and Equal Opportunity Office so good luck if you have any issues because no one cares. All they want you to do is go away..they sweep stuff under the rug so it seems like nothing bad ever happens at Miami University. No accountability for time..lots of people came and went as pleased and never put in a 40 hour week except those who clocked in..must be nice to show up about 10 hours a week & get a pay check..I feel badly for the diverse students in that there is no one to support them and Miami is not diverse as it is..so without a strong Diversity Department there is a definite disadvantage to that student population.
