Pros

Relaxed environment, and lots of room to achieve and stand out if you put forth the effort. You can really drive your own growth and get references as a developer from both clients and other devs. I would recommend Miami to someone who is motivated, because you can complete all your project work and take time to learn new tech all within your 40 hour week, as long as you are focused. I personally think this is a great starting point for a career as a developer. You also get to work with a wide range of tech if you want to.

Cons

In order to experience the growth, you have to be and stay motivated. It is an environment that is very easy to get complacent in. It's probably too relaxed but I think that's a byproduct of recent structural changes. Currently (mid 2016) there are many recently hired engineers in IT services. The college and the town the college are in will pretty much have to be your life if you're not from the area. If you have to commute, you will either live in the middle of nowhere, or you will be have a very long commute. They make it sound like they are close to Cincinnati, but it's really about a 40 min drive to Cincy suburbs from the college. Pay is also not competitive here. If Salary is your primary motivation, this will not be the place for you.

Pros

Can be a warm environment. Was encouraged to work at my own pace and to organize my own projects.

Cons

Contentious work environment where internal politics frequently got in the way of accomplishing larger goals. The more non-normative you were the more your efforts where rewarded. Not very in tune with the general student body, largely catering to a select group of patrons to the point of an exclusionary feeling.
