Pros

Competitive pay when compared to all other credit unions in the area. Benefits are pretty good as well.

Cons

Michigan first is probably the only credit union to mishandle corona virus plan of action. Choosing to ignore it. Placing the safety of employees at risk. Ceo is hard headed and dead set in his old ways. There’s a reason turnover rate is so high. Ceo posted very offensive posts on LinkedIn later deleted from his personal page. Let’s his political affiliation lead his decisions.

it's ok, but don't believe the hype

Pros

The pay was good, but they kept adding more things to my job so they had to pay me more to keep me there. I worked with a great team who I liked a lot. Predictable hours. Stable. If you're looking for something where you can check in and check out, you can last there. If you're a member, you'll be treated great. My direct manager was amazing.

Cons

The culture. Overly restrictive with bogus business reasons. We had to recite a sort of prayer? every morning and discuss aspects of our culture before we broke for the day to work. It felt forced and fake. It's like they think if you keep repeating that it's a privilege to work there, you'll believe it. You're micromanaged constantly by senior leadership who really should be worrying about more than whether or not you're two minutes late to your desk. Very restrictive dress code, even for back office workers. Inflexible hours--had to stay late to make up the hours missed for a doctor appointment, even though work was project based. Senior leaders have favorites and it's very obvious. Pregnant tellers have to stand for 8+ hour days, no exceptions. Even the most minor of mistakes were treated like armageddon. There's a ping pong table in the basement, but no one ever uses it because breaks and fun are honestly frowned upon no matter what the ISMs say. They fool you with a nice website and friendly recruiters, but pay attention when you get into the building. It's not great if you have a family, hours are set in stone. You're "coached" for using the sick time you rightfully accrue (they used to dock bonuses if you used more than 2 or 3 days a year). They're not authentic.

Pros

All the cons far outweigh any pros.

Cons

Worst place I have worked. Don't even think about working here if you have any self respect even if you are desperate for a job in the long run it will do you more harm than good. Management culture is bullying and intimidating employees to get what they want out of you. No respect for non management people. I feel that all the positive reviews look very similar and might be put in by mgmt. Strange culture they give allot of lip service and talk very big but then do the opposite. High turnover read the other reviews and it will tell you all you need to know.
