Compensation. While the quarterly bonuses and 401k matching are a nice extra, they do not offset the below average base salary. Likewise, the RSUs are a very good package, but they do not translate to cash immediately and you have to work years to accumulate a decent number but this does offset the low base salary.
Being an engineer in the NY site but being paid the same salary as the engineers in the AZ site is not fair because the cost of living in NY is significantly higher which makes it very difficult to get by with the low base salary.
Likewise, raises dont seem to be very popular and are the bare minimum if given.
