Pros

Part of the Berkshire Hathaway family, so your job is stable. The benefits are fairly good, if not inexpensive. Lack of holidays are offset by 2-3 floating holidays. Company takes safety seriously.

Cons

Employees' skills are often mismatched with their responsibilities. Extraordinarily difficult to receive a promotion and nearly impossible to receive a raise. Middle management is extremely poor, particularly when it comes to hiring. Your starting salary will dictate your pay throughout your tenure.

Pros

Benefits and salary are above average and for the most part the work environment is relaxed. The HR department is solid, but they don't run the company like at other utilities. The internal IT department is lacking, but there is always a fellow employee to help you out.

Cons

They are pretty cheap as far as investing in their own infrastructure and equipment. Computers and other equipment are low end, and I haven't seen any new office furniture anywhere.
