Pros

It is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. You will always have a job.

Cons

No monetary participation in growth of company. There is no direct link between value created and bonus. Always working shorthanded. The phrase "work you like a rented mule" is very apt. The company will force you to move from the lowcost midwest to a job on the coast without a cost of living adjustment.

Pros

Stable job for the most part. Basic benefits and vacation and sick leave. Some mobility within the company for job variation. Co-workers at the same level as you are generally supportive.

Cons

Compared to other utilities I have experienced, MEC has the lowest pay per hour and most costly benefits. No stock option-basic 401k. Upper management provides little support. Heavy work load with no back up and management not open to ideas from employees. Overall feeling among employees is lack of concern from management, with management quick to fire employees for minor infractions.

Pros

I have several years in as a lineman, So I have earned a few weeks vacation. This part is a 20 word minimum ,so il just keep typing since I really can't find anything positive to say at this time. I hope the company changes it's ways. But I doubt it will.GREED !!!

Cons

They want you to work for sub pay as a lineman. Compared to other lineman in our area. Management will lie to you and the Union contract is non existent. The supervisors try to get a crew to do unsafe practices just to get the job done. SHORT CUTS !!!
