Time off requests can be a bit difficult on short ish notice, though that's due to usually only one person per job site so understandable. Call off process is a bit cumbersome and they use a point system for abscences, illness requires a Dr. Note but non medical emergencies don't have much leniency. Pay is a base rate plus a "bonus" to get your hourly rate - this is so if you quit without notice, you lose the bonus part. Sort of understandable but seems a little unethical. Pay raises are not given yearly, or at least I haven't had one yet
