Great shipboard job, but deployments are long

Pros

Lots of O/T, cool work doing underway replenishment, very little time just sitting around the union hall. Boatswains know their jobs.

Cons

Deployments can be long, and if you're deployed to the Persian Gulf (which you probably will be at some point) the heat is very difficult to deal with.

Great pay and benefits. I really love my job.

Cons

Well you are at sea much of the time. Any resemblance of a life you have or think you have is really just an illusion. You have crossed over to being a rarity and are a mariner and no longer a land lubber.

This is an excellent opportunity for many job careers ,excellent benefits,Travel and see the World get a different perspective on life ,looking for money for a entrepreneurship,college,or just want a career at sea with many advancement oppurtunities this is the job for you.

Cons

Although u can make a ton of money ,meet new and interesting people travel the world this job although they try is not file orientated high divorce rate ,and very stressful on families with kids be away sometimes up to six months or more ,income varies on each class of ship so does management.
