Pros

Relatively lower stress than commercial side, benefits ok

Cons

Bad manpower management, no accountability because of overprotective civil service laws and government waste, 4 months on ships with only 1 month of leave so no work / life balance, low quality personnel, low quality ships

Pros

Challenging tasks and you'll see the work you're doing is to help the warfighter.

Cons

Leadership may not always communicate all efforts to the employee or you'll encounter various leadership styles. I worked with a few micro-managers as a government civilian; not what I expected for an government agency.
