Pros

Flexible and understanding with your schedule. Opportunities to learn new skills for your position as well as meet other departments within the company. Monthly wellness spending stipend. Quarterly bonuses. Attentive and involved management. Opportunities to move up in the company. General atmosphere is always positive. Work Hard, Play Hard environment. Health benefits are great - full coverage is offered. 401K matching. Company values and culture are actually in tune with each other and there is a genuine sense of compassion for each employee.

Cons

Sometimes the company is slow to enact changes in work processes due to the large size of the company. Communication can be tough with so many different and large teams so it is important to inform everyone twice to get a message across.

I was just escorting a candidate today and talking about the importance of keeping in touch with employees as the company grows. You hit the nail on the head. We have to keep our culture as we grow and check in with what matters to our employees (Glassdoor is one way we are keeping a pulse on that). The good news is those benefits you love aren't going anywhere. The culture and company values are in tune because our leaders are held to them as much as everyone else (probably more). Hang in there with the pain points, though it sounds like you don't need convincing that we'll get through it. Hope you stay with us for the long haul and continue growing with us!

Pros

Our CEO demonstrates all of our core values which is a big deal to me. One of the coolest things about MINDBODY is: we MUST make quarterly goals for ourselves and at the end of the quarter, have a meeting with our supervisors to make sure we're meeting our goals. Who wouldn't love working for a company that makes sure we're growing in our personal lives?

Cons

LOTS of new features that we have to learn on the fly, but that's what happens when the company is growing like weeds.

Thank you for the review! Isn't it wonderful how we are kept to our goals in and outside of work? Some goals on my team this quarter are daily water drinking, creating compost bins, regular workouts, etc. (and we will be held accountable!) We hear you on the cons, especially as we are constantly evolving our processes. Everyone will see some pain there temporarily but I'm glad you know it's because of growing, and ultimately we are making our software and service even better! This is a great review for anyone coming into Customer Service or a tech role as helping our clients be successful is something we are learning about all the time (not to mention you guys have to know about feature updates and changes to the software as soon as possible). Kudos to you for keeping on top of your guru knowledge, it's not easy!

I HATE working here

Business Outlook

Pros

Laid back working environment....approachable manager. The people are cool, and we can get away with a lot, so long as no narcs are around. Good health benefits and plenty (20 days) of PTO are nice.

Cons

I absolutely hate working here. The pay is atrocious. They don't care whether you went to a trade school and dropped out, or if you graduated from a well-known university with a Masters, your salary offer will be the same, and there is no negotiating. Which is awful because the salary they will offer you will be far far away from industry standard or "competitive." The raises are nominal (~3%). And the "quarterly CVA bonuses" are a joke (~$80). There is absolutely no way to make a living here. After all my living expenses (and I live like a college student with 4 roommates in a small house), I only make about $400 a month to put into a savings account, and I have a second job as well. Everyone who works at MINDBODY either lives in Atascadero (tweaker central) or Arroyo Grande, and not beautiful San Luis Obispo. Why? Because it's as expensive as the Bay Area to live in. If you do live in SLO, be prepared to have a spouse who makes much more than you because there is no other way to make it. This company is so ass-backwards. All that matters to them is their BS core values. So if you do something extremely helpful and it results in a ton more sales, they expect you to be humble and not brag about it or bring it to anyone's attention. You just have to get recognized somehow. Also, they offer free (you get wellness credits) on-site massages, but they just increased the price on that as well. There are many people who work here that have NO IDEA what it means to work efficiently. Here's a brilliant idea: when you come in in the morning and check your tickets, answer the urgent ones first, the easy ones second, and then the rest based on when they were received. Instead, you get a bunch of pissed off clients waiting for a day and a half to receive a simple 'yes' answer or a number to call. I work as efficiently as possible, and I'm sure your real CEO (Bob) would love to know this, and he'd love to know why I'm getting paid the exact same as someone who gets half the jobs completed per month as I do. But nope, sadly this does not occur, and many of the directors and managers do not care about the pace that people work at, so long as they are doing work. This is no way to run a company. But MINDBODY does not fire people, except for in two instances. 1) Sales not meeting goals, and 2) (sexual or other) harassment issues....which brings me to my next point.... The people that work here are extremely sensitive. The smallest off hand or college kid type of comment will get you in trouble. So you have to be extremely careful about what you say and who you are with when you say it. Otherwise you'll get reported. People here don't understand that you should talk to someone and tell them they are offending you if they are, instead of just going straight to HR. I could go on and on, but I believe you get the point. Nothing I say here will change anything. I mean it took them 3 months to find a Compensation Manager who agrees with the minuscule amount we get paid for the high level and high security work we do. Oh yeah, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when a data breach will happen. You give people as much access to client lists and information as you do here, and you pay them garbage, you are asking for trouble. :)

Thank you for your review. There's a lot of information here about your negative experience. You mention a lot of things here that I wish I could address issue by issue but I'll stick to my overall point, I sincerely hope you talk with your manager and a member of our People and Culture team right away. Please don't wait to do this. Your experience here matters to us and it sounds like there needs to be some issues cleared up immediately so you can enjoy your job and coming to work everyday. You can drop in to talk to someone from People and Culture at any time, no appointment necessary. I hope you get some of these issues resolved quickly and perhaps think about other opportunities if you are not happy here. It's not worth staying at a company if your values don't align with the organizations. Since this is a public forum and anonymous, there's not much more I can say only that I truly hope you reach out (we encourage this) to your manager at your next 1:1.
