Pros

What an amazing atmosphere to work in. I've never made friends so quickly at a new job. They make you feel at home and relaxed in an instant! They are so focused on spreading health and wellness to the world, and it starts right at home in their offices. We were offered nutrition counseling, a fitness challenge and weekly yoga (on top of the daily fitness challenge)! A company that TRULY cares about their employees, customers, and their product.

Cons

Such an arduous 8 weeks of training we had. If you don't do well "cold calling" this job is not for you. Once you were finally comfortable enough on the phone to be able to start creating your own leads, there were no new leads to find. I recall spending 8 hours a day, for weeks on end trying to find new leads, or reactivate old ones, so I could make my goals, but to no end, finding a business that had not been snatched up by another person was incredibly rare. Upon viewing "activity" on the lead, which required 45 days of no contact before you could grab it, you'd find that the client was never really being contacted, but just reactivated in case *maybe* *one day* that salesperson would want to speak to them again. I know Sales is a competitive atmosphere, but the frustration that came along with finding new clients was almost impossible to bear. You were allowed to bring a case to management, and speak to the "owner" of a lead to see if they'd give it up, but that was a rare occasion. All in all, I loved the company, but I couldn't take the frustrations that came along with prospecting, "funnel filling," and the general shark-tank that is the Sales Industry. (Managers were cool though. Like really cool.)

Thank you for your honest feedback here! Sales can be a demanding environment but this is why our training is so important. We want to shore up new sales professionals with tools they need to be successful. You are right that the sales environment can be frustrating if it's not something you are passionate about. Hope you have moved on to better opportunities! Best of luck to you and thanks again for your review!

Pros

Atmosphere, hands down. I've never worked in a place that is so continually positive, encouraging, and motivating. My coworkers, and superiors all seem to have the same goal in mind, and we are all working together to achieve it.

Cons

The incentive program is very deceiving. When I started, I was led to believe that my performance would be rewarded, and that there will always be room for growth. While I'm sure that is still true in theory, the reality is much different. Since I've started, I've earned multiple certifications, been part of numerous task forces to analyze our product and its impact on the market, and joined a pipeline. The pipeline program alone has me doing several of the tasks of a supervisor including mentoring new hires, and handling escalated clients. I've accomplished so much in my first year here, and my reward has totaled just over 40 cents.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate the honesty and the opportunity to respond to concerns and provide recommendations to improve your outlook. MINDBODY has grown substantially over the years and has adjusted customer service pay upward to what we believe is above average, however to be certain, we've recently hired a compensation manager who is working with every department in the organization to help us develop a transparent compensation philosophy and compensation scale. This will enable us to communicate the pay scale and the philosophy behind it during the time of recruitment so people can decide if this is a job that will meet their unique financial and professional needs and desires. I'm not sure what certifications, Taskforce, and pipelines you're referring to or what your expectations surrounding pay around that are, but it sounds like you've shown a lot of personal ambition and initiative to create opporuntities for yourself that you don't feel were reflected in your annual performance evaluation. I'm also not sure if you received a 6 month evaluation and pay increase, which is usually standard in Technical Support. We do consider that 6 month increase at the point of the first annual review. In other words, I can't fully respond to your concerns without more information and would appreciate the opportunity to do so in person and at the very least encourage you to talk to HR about how to resolve this concern for yourself. In regards to rumors about past pay increases - in 2012 we began shifting from an average of $14 per hour to a new scale averaging $16 per hour. Because we did not have a lot of knowledge and experience about executing on this, it was done without much transparency and set expectations that pay increases are and will continue to be ahead of market, which averages 3% per year nationwide for top performers. We are sorry that you feel disappointed with your raise, and would love to talk to you more to figure out how we can improve both our communication and process around pay increases while giving more insight to MINDBODY's current payroll strategy as relevant to your position.

Pros

i've been with the company now for just about 5 years, now work in Product Development, and it's been really awesome to watch the company grow. i've watched the company hire so many new people and teams double and triple in size, yet the company has been able to maintain its culture. It's awesome to see the CEO around the office and he not only knows many of the employees by name, but is friendly and approachable every time you see him. The company truly cares about its employees and treats us very well. The benefits are amazing and many, if not most decisions are run by employees before being made. Each department has their own nuances, but Prod Dev is truly an awesome place to come to work every day.

Cons

As we grow there are definitely more procedures and policies being put in place that feel a bit bureaucratic. Also many large decisions are made without a whole lot of planning or forethought, or research, so often times employees complain about MINDBODY always shooting from the hip.

This is great feedback for us, and we can tell you've put some genuine thought into what could make this a better place. We love that you shared this on Glassdoor with us. Some policies and procedures make it feel like things are tightening up, but I promise for good reason. You can always count on the culture we love to be here though even when things seem a little more strict. This is part of growing up and I know we'll get there soon!
