Over the last couple of years, many toxic cis-men (exclusively White or Indian) have run this company into the absolute ground. Moda is not failing because of any harm committed by Lauren; actually, she is the only one at a leadership level at Moda that approaches anything from a customer-centric lens. This company is failing because Ganesh came on board, blew through $150M in a year hiring hundreds of bad candidates at every level (CTO, SVP, CPO, VP x 10) and pulling the company in a dozen unfocused directions: China, Marketplace, Men's Expansion, etc. None of these people hired have a clue what it means to run a retail business, what customers want or what luxury means. Yes, Amazon and Wal-Mart makes for an impressive CV, but how hard is it to sell a book online? Be advised that the most recent round of layoffs is not due to COVID but because men at the top were grossly irresponsible. BEWARE of the leadership still at Moda after the last round of layoffs, specifically the King of Gaslighting COO. This man has many folks at the company fooled with his charm but he is a snake. He lies to people's faces, intentionally gaslights, and demoralizes. Saying things such as "winners win" is toxic. Read a book on servant-leadership. I encourage everyone to look into this man's social media habits-- shocking someone that openly follows "Deplorable" accounts on Twitter, and regularly likes hateful accounts is lauded. The last thing I will add is that I have never before witnessed so much pathologically bad behavior at the VP and above level tolerated and condoned at a workplace. Any crony of Ganesh from his Tesla days has been protected regardless of how terrible they are at their job or how much harm they inflict on others. The person running North America is another crony that has DOZENS of HR complaints, shady expenses, regularly doesn't show up for critical meetings or work, and is company-wide disliked but yet is still being rewarded and in her position. This is gaslighting and by c-suite standing by and being complicit in this behavior is why Moda will fail.
