“Reply All” All Day

Pros

Days are long, but they go by fast. You work with a lot of cool peeps at Mondo and at other companies. They give you a lot of extra days off to make up for the crazy.

Cons

It is absolutely EXHAUSTING. The “reply all” culture filled with way too many exclamation points starts via ping and email at 7:30am, and doesn’t stop until 7-8pm. The micromanagment and over communication is highly unnecessary. SO distracting. Leadership is young and inexperienced and emotionally charged. They all have their own mental health issues from years at Mondo that they perpetuate and pass down to young employees. My guess is that 1 out of every 10 employees stays for more than a year.

Pros

This company does 401k matching

Cons

Pretty much everything, the base pay is close to nothing and you are very heavily micromanaged every day. Insecure managers will ping you constantly asking for updates on your activity, some days nonstop from 7AM - 8PM. My manager would bully candidates into accepting a job and if a candidate turned down an offer, the recruiter would get blamed for not building a good enough relationship with the candidate (even if we were looking at a two-day turnaround.) I wanted to write this to let new college grads know that this is NOT how corporate life actually is. Go somewhere where you are valued and not just another number. One of the California offices had so many people quit that they actually had to dissolve it altogether. If a churn-and-burn staffing agency where your manager has a week-long panic attack towards the end of every single month sounds interesting to you, then go for it!

Pros

You will befriend co-workers after multiple nights of drinking discussing how much you dislike your job.

Cons

Everything is wrong with the Mondo business model. You could not work for more of a "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" company. They will give you a free Headspace account, but destroy your mental health. The job consists of cold calling/emailing/LI out reach seeking a hiring manager who needs help finding a tech/marketing candidate. When you finally build a relationship with a manager they will push, push and then force you to have them hire someone ASAP, especially if it's the end of the month. It doesn't matter if it's the right person, your job is to persuade them you know the market and they don't. Mondo management does not know the market... they convince you Directors of Engineering/Hiring Managers don't know what they're doing and need to hire 1 of the 2-5 candidates we've provided. You will be micromanaged and expected to deliver results that are unrealistic. At times I would ask my manager for advice, but they had no clue how to respond b/c they only deal with "strategy." Well... strategy changes weekly, and you're only told what you're not doing right, never what you did well. Hours were 8-530. If you left "on time" you were looked at funny. New employees would come in and get side eye'd if they took an actual lunch, as opposed to eating at their desk. There was a time we were told we could not leave our desk after our daily 830 meeting for coffee or food, and had to get in early if we wanted to do so. Mondo is a mess. Employees are bullied, and it is not uncommon to see somebody cry on a Wednesday afternoon. They preach proactiveness, but couldn't be more reactive in how they go about their daily "strategy." I saw a lot of shady things, the worst I witnessed was a manager backdating an employee review on that persons performance. That employee was fired the next day after signing the illegitimate review. If you care about the current political climate, don't expect for leadership to have any sort of stance. If you last 6+ months... you will be pushed, learn how to handle yourself in an intense environment, hate your job, and hopefully make some money. You will eventually leave and realize other jobs can offer you so much more without the intense bullying and inconsistency from leadership.
