Pros

There is really no way to undersell the collaborative vibe at MongoDB. It's the first place I've worked where nearly everyone is open, helpful and proactive. The culture they cultivate comes from top-down and they truly believe in sharing time, information, experiences, data and solutions proactively. As for the day to day work, it's extremely rewarding. The roles are well defined, but they allow for 1 hour each day of "Personal Time" where you can work on anything else important to you relevant to the business. If you want to learn something, fine. If you want to work with someone from a different department to create a new tool, fine. If you want to work on a certification that will help you in your career, fine. This is a company policy, not just a suggestion. As for the management, I honeslty don't know how they find the time. 1x1 meetings are setup during your first year, 1 per quarter, with your director (or 2nd line) and twice-weekly 1x1s with your direct upline manager. The former is almost unheard of--they truly understand that the front liners need to be heard and they value the input. Finally, the onboarding process has got to be among the best int the IT industry. It's unbelievably thorough, well organized, timed well and even has benchmarks and feedback loops to allow for constant improvement and adjustment as new hire priorities shift over time.

Cons

The only con I can think of--and this is a stretch--is that their annual conference isn't a must-attend event for employees. A relatively low percentage attend, which makes sense from the perspective of needing people to man the ship so to speak. I'm really stretching here to find something that appraockes the realm of "con."

Pros

People here are super intelligent and friendly, and they respect your professional skills. I never got a No of any favor asking, and I learned so much from them. The teams have a great process and keep iterating on it. As a designer, I care a lot about ownership. One of MongoDB's values is "own what you do" which can be strongly felt. Collaboration and teamwork are my favorite part. Not only within your team but a lot of opportunities with people outside your regular teams - lots of activities like an internal hackathon, game week, lunch & learn, social time, and group learning opportunities. It's growing globally and it's a brand you can talk about with pride.

Cons

Since the company grows so fast, every team will spend significant time on interviews and onboarding new members. Finding the right people is not easy. Also, the title and compensation system might not work as mature as FANNG (or MATE?). If you work on some complex product lines or projects, you might experience some politics (which is not bad if you are good at it).

Pros

- Leadership here is the real deal: from my Regional Director to my AVP to my to my RVP to my VP all the way to my CRO, everyone I work with on the sales side is incredible. Not only are they sales experts and trusted advisors but they're also GOOD people. - The product is genuinely amazing: we know it, our customers know it, our prospects know it, and our competitors know it. - Growth and Career Support is emphasized: there are consistently conversations around "so where do you want to take your career here?" and there aren't any limitations put on me. If I want to go down the path of an IC or I want to go down the path of Leadership, I am supported. - There are no shortages of resources: the marketing team is world class, we have BDR support to provide deep research into our accounts, we have SDR support to help with meetings / account mapping, customer testimonials, case studies, etc. - Learning and Development: this is something that was emphasized when I was interviewing and it's something that MongoDB has a great reputation for. It's just real and it doesn't go away. There is ongoing L&D and training from your ramp period and beyond. Ongoing learning is mastery is one of the highest priorities here.

Cons

- I don't have many legitimate cons but maybe some would view the following advice as a con. - Don't expect an "easy" ride here. It can be overwhelming at times and you really need to be disciplined. But what good things in life are ever any different? - Opportunities and companies of this caliber obviously want people who are eager to excel and to hustle. This is certainly not a place to come and kick your feet up. Every one earns it. Work hard play hard.
