Pros

Solid benefits, decent pay, flexible hours, good people in general, good parties is what I hear but I didn’t get to go because of COVID

Cons

Couldn’t retain good leadership, Leadership now is controlling, self centered, power hungry. Never in my life have I witnessed Directors, VPs and especially CFOs act in this way towards employees. They’re clueless, can no longer retain diverse talent under their new management and I wouldn’t be surprised if more people continued to leave. Poor organization and management has led to back office being near useless to the rest of the org. Too lean in some teams, too inflated in others, zero synergy, zero leadership, not to mention POC leaving left and right.

Pros

-Good health insurance in the US -It was remote until they started a return to office in 2025

Cons

Thousands of layoffs In the past 3 years and a completely unprofitable business model have pulled several high performing businesses down into the depths of EBITA inferno. The stock price sunk 95% in 3 years and it’s forced them to fire good employees from every region across every position. Some leadership are preparing for the worst behind closed doors but won’t admit to the masses that this ship is sinking. There is not culture, there are no values. It’s just a waiting game at this point. All that remains is enchanting talk of the future of AI. Although Monks doesn't offer any unique AI services except to the likes of Google, Amazon and Microsoft, the all hands calls are filled with its tired stench. Rather than addressing real employee concerns, they choose to highlight unclear and esoteric visions of AI, with no widespread training of it to anyone at the company. We just witnessed a 90 minute all hands where thumbs down emojis couldn’t be stopped for the entire meeting, even by senior leaders who asked it to stop. The comment section was filled with angry employees demanding answers and accountability to the new return to office policy and lack of promotions, pay increases and clarity into layoffs. I’ve never witnessed anything like it in my career.

Pros

Smart people but you’ll find those wherever you go.

Cons

The company constantly acquires new businesses with little to no meaningful integration, creating instability and leaving existing teams unsupported. Recently, there’s been a push to cut labor costs through layoffs and aggressive offshoring, with no regard for the impact on clients or team morale. Wages have been stagnant for years. If you’re “lucky,” you might get a 2-3% merit increase (but not every year because if you got one last year they need to spread the wealth to someone else who hasn’t ever received a salary increase), which is beyond insulting and demoralizing. Advancement opportunities are almost nonexistent. Teams are siloed, communication across departments is poor, and collaboration is strangely not encouraged. The result is overworked, understaffed teams and a toxic culture based on no work life balance. Leadership openly leverages market instability to pressure employees, making it clear they’d rather have you quit so they can refill your role for less. If you need a paycheck to get by, take the job. Otherwise, and I can’t say this loudly enough, do not bother.
