Pros

The job allows freedom in planning your week. You plan your daily routes and have an idea of your day well before it occurs. You have decent support from management and I felt that my manager truly cared for her employees. You also encounter individuals in dire need of assistance that may not have the resources to get them, making the job even more rewarding. Finally, your first week on the job is orientation in Tennessee, which monogram covers all the expenses for your travel. This is a great networking opportunity and really was a highlight of the position.

Cons

While I admire the organization and how they try to benefit their patients, are a lot of cons associated with the specific job. First, the benefits are terrible and expensive. This was also by far the worst PTO structure I’ve ever had in a full time position. Next, the job is advertised with anticipated commission included as a yearly salary. However, this is only achieved if you meet your monthly enrollment quota, which changes every month and can be very difficult to achieve. Finally, the job can be very frustrating and stress-inducing. The job title was “outreach specialist”, but I often felt like a door-to-door salesman. Nearly all the people you encounter have either not been reached via phone or have outright denied the program. This meant that almost all visits are unannounced and unexpected. This led to many tense exchanges, angry patients, and an overall level of frustration in my daily routine.
