Pros

With the on-going changes at the top Moog is going through major changes. If one is aggressive and well positioned there are some great once in a life-time opportunities right now. Moog pays well above market in many areas and the benefits while they tend to be one-size fits all are also very good.

Cons

With all of the changes going on, if you do not watch your back, you could very easily end up with a knife in it. You really cannot trust anyone right now – it is a scramble for the top and some very good, experienced people are bailing because they do not want to be a part of the company Moog is becoming. Joining Moog is a risk right now, but depending on where you are in your life/career it might be a good one. I would be careful about moving to the HQ in East Aurora – there are no other major organizations in the area – so a leaving Moog would mean a relocation.

Work-life balance touted as important - but it's not

Pros

Supportive of time off for family related issues. Will allow some flexibility as long as work is done. Decent benefits compared to other organizations.

Cons

Despite saying that work life balance is important, they continue to pile work on the same high performing individuals. They'll say have a nice weekend knowing that to get everything done you will have to work the weekend as well. Upper management really seems oblivious to the amount of work it takes to keep the business running and/or do not care as long as it keeps getting done. This is one reason that the organization will not grow as quickly as it could. Furthermore, there is a real lack of clarity in the organization - ambiguity of what is to be done, by whom, and when. Off the cuff organizational changes with no real analysis of how it will work for the business. Lack of flow down of business objectives to the employees - they are not told the truth - leads to mediocre employees if they think they are always doing "awesome". Middle management left out to dry while HR / upper management takes the employee's side on everything.

Pros

Hardworking people Interesting work Coo products

Cons

Above the worker bee level, the company leadership is toxic, backbiting & just looking for cheap ways to make you work harder. Previous values are dead, at least in East Aurora. You’ll hear them but not see leaders practicing them. Promotions into senior leadership & executive roles are all politics, not performance. Company tends to repackage operational problems rather than address them. The company challenges we were facing when I was hired are still here many years later. We know what wrong, but there is more reward in keeping things broken than fixing things.
