Pros

This is a company that is performing well in the market. They are growing and cost cutting to get lean and mean. They will continue to be a large player in the Aerospace, Industrial and Space and Defense motion controls markets.

Cons

In their growth they have lost focus on the employees. If you are starting out as lets say an engineer at the company, you will soon find that you have to do some job hoping because the company will not provide raises that keep up with the cost of living much less provide you with financial security. This was the company in Western New York from the 1970 when people really heard about it to 2005 when they started downhill, where people begged to get a shot at getting into. Somewhere in the conquest for greatness they forgot the importance of their employees. It happens to a lot of "small companies that become large companies. Lets hope Moog somehow finds their way back.

Work harder - with less people

Pros

There is a fairly open trust here, people are (for the most part) treated as adults who don't need constant supervision to do their work. The Moog cultural statement is followed for the most part. Personal growth is encouraged and Moog likes to promote within the organization.

Cons

The aircraft section of the business has undergone several restructuring efforts in the few years I have been with the company. With corporate's effort to outsource, an air of mistrust and unease has developed in the worker ranks. The current mantra here seems to be "work harder with less people".

Pros

Moog highly values their talent and will pay top-dollar to obtain it. Projects are leading edge technology for the industry and challenging because of the long-term effects (10+ years) that the short-term (~ 3 yr) development projects have. Benefits are exemplary.

Cons

Leadershiop is a mix of old and new. Aircraft Group leadership was promoted from within and learned to manage when the Engineering department was less than 200 heads and was focused on the development of components/line replaceable units. The Aircraft group has grown to ~800 engineers in multiple countries and their main product is now flight control systems
