Run! Do Not Work Here

Pros

There were pros, that being the benefits, time off, the people I worked with, and even the leading edge technology. I met some good people.

Cons

This isn't just my opinion, it's the opinion of my sister-in-law as well who was a partner at the firm till it drove her to quit. The culture is terrible. From an antiquated protestant work ethic, to way too much concern for appearances over substance, to EXTREME MICROMANAGEMENT, to the expectations that are inhuman, unreasonable and unmeetable. It's impossible to please anyone. You're never good enough, ever. You will constantly feel on edge, worried and stressed out over whether you'll make it at this place. I found it strange that so many people here were also super conservative, politics wise. Not a lot of diversity there. Companies, especially law firms like this, will thrive regardless of this culture, but I hope that they'll find themselves short on people willing to take a job from them.

Pros

Nice, hard working, loyal group of employees including the associates and some partners.

Cons

Cheap firm, always looking for a bargain. They give pastries that taste a day old, you have to use five paper towels in order to dry your hands because the paper towels dissolve. They still use liquid white out, the carpet is filthy, office chairs are broken and the walls could use some fresh paint. The past 5 years increases have been 2% or less. This year the firm did a market survey and said they were going to give better increases. They lied. Some increases were less than 2%, bonuses are a joke. The managing partner in LA is crazy and if she doesn’t like you she will make sure she gets rid of you. She’s sneaky and thinks that buying the staff lunch makes up for the crappy raises. Rumors are circulating that the Chair of the firm realizes she made a mistake by putting her in that position, and she will be removed by year end. To make things worse the managing partner runs the L&E group, high turnover, overworked associates, it is obvious that the new associates and laterals in that department know they made a mistake coming to Morgan. The firm thinks they are big law, but they’re not. They treat the Bingham employees like second class citizens and the managing partner in LA condones this. There are a lot of good loyal employees who deserve better, not sure why they stay. The firm sucks.

Pros

Can't think of one thing

Cons

Awful. Staff is treated terribly. Elitist attitude toward lower staff. Little to no bonuses given, perks are practically none and those that existed were taken away. Diversity reach out is horrendous and ridiculous; IT is in 1985; intranet is AWFUL. Nothing is updated for this century in terms of getting your job done. Family feel of the past is no longer there.
