Used to be a great place to work! - No more......

Pros

Direct report Managers have been good. Employees used to stay 35 years...NOT now (you're fired or bail), unless you are a trapped long time employee. Good pay; health insurance great! Very safe company that values employee safety first.

Cons

Rats fleeing a changing (for the worse) sinking ship. Employees used to stay 35 years because such a great place to work..now any longevity over 5-10 years, you are considered a dinosaur with no motivation to change; (they don't ask you and assume since most recent change has been for the worse (2.5 years of sheer misery), you, being an above average employee your whole career, now, is the problem) Most employees that were "Morton Salt" before K+S ownership, are now considered old and are not advanced. BUT, even 1-3 year employees bail constantly for better work conditions in Chicago!

Better to look elsewhere

Pros

A small handful of quality employees remain but most have left for greener pastures.

Cons

CEO refuses to listen to and value employees and is determined to cut benefits. Already low comp/benefits for the Chicago market, they will continue to bleed high performers as they cut benefits and lack flexibility. Management focused on trivial things like "face time" in the office which is completely outdated post-pandemic. Most of the leadership team is not based in Chicago but they insist on 3 days downtown for all employees with no exceptions. Outdated technology with significantly reduced IT support. Open a ticket? You might get a response 2 weeks later if at all.

Pros

The employees are very nice and welcoming. But that's about it.

Cons

The CEO openly admonishes his employees. He doesn't listen to current philosophies or business trends. Refuses to open his mind. There is no organization in the company. There is no real onboarding / orientation process. HR has been depleted by layoffs. My HR contact couldn't tell me how to sign up for benefits. There is no training. Due to the CEO's unwillingness to change there is little work from home flexibility. Benefits are very mediocre (15 vacation days).
