Pros

Iconic name that will help you find a way out. The 401k is competitive.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations set by parent company. If you aren’t at the corporate office you are viewed as less than. Check out the corporate holiday party versus what goes on at the sites. You could also look at the turnover in HR from the top down. Management runs people off and then the CEO wonders why they get terrible reviews.

GOOD WORKERS ARE UNDERVALUED

Pros

Perks of working in a new building.

Cons

If you're not in the "favorite" club or buddies with your manager, don't expect to be of any value. You can be the best worker in your department, but you will still be of no value. Instead, you will be given more work than everyone else. However, if you are in the favorite club, you will have no complaints. There are a select few that barely does the minimum, yet receive promotions every year. I believe this is the reason a lot of people are jumping ship to work for other companies. Oh and please don't come here as a minority. You definitely wont get far here.

New Building, Old Fashioned Everything Else

Pros

New building appears great and brings some light into the work space

Cons

Nothing changed other than the new work space. No additional flexibility and no change in the culture. The morale is down and it is looking like nothing will truly change for a good 5 to 10 years. Lots of great people come in and are promised things and unfortunately the integrity of the company does not hold true to its word. Great companies do not invest time in letting employees go, instead they empower their employees to grow with the company. Morton Salt is still learning and it is unfortunate how the company missed the chance with the move to rejuvenate the culture.
