Pros

Good pay, excellent experience in industrial chemical production - had to become an expert in repairs because the facility would not outlay for needed capital improvements.

Cons

The job required 55-60 hours a week and fast paced shifts. The technical/scientific divisions were very under-staffed and as such, it was almost impossible to get ahead of the problems. Little chance for advancement (someone basically had to die or retire for promotions to become available... and when they were available, they did not promote from within)

Pros

Good pay. Decent benefits. Well known brand. Company is working hard to go in the right direction. Infusion of capital is helping.

Cons

Poor work/life balance. Tough unions. Lack of formalized processes company wide. Too many initiatives and not enough resources. Lackluster career path development.

Thank you for your feedback. We are building on the new performance management process we introduced last year, to include a revised bonus program for employees. It will be introduced to employees later this quarter and will take both individual performance and company performance into account to determine variable pay. Answered by: VP, Human Resources

Poor Company - Weeks Island

Pros

Not many site specific Company as a whole had good benefits

Cons

Low salary for field, amount of work/time involved Poor management practices Adverse to change "My way or the highway" management Micromanagement, no trust that employees are capable or qualified Morton as a whole - Big con was having no support to seek different job opportunities. Open positions that I applied to saw my application completely ignored. If I am not qualified, fine, but at least have the courtesy to inform me I am not in the running. Specific note, when I express interest to an advancement opportunity, telling me I am better off where I am is not what an employee wants to hear.
