Transformational Change Taking Hold

Pros

• New Senior Leadership Team dedicated to improving the company. A real focus on making Morton one of “the” places to work in Chicago. • Transparent (and relentless) internal focus on profitability, yet profitability remains secondary to safety and sustainability (as it should be). All functions have a seat at the table. Collaboration and commitment required to drive the business forward is paying off. • A push for more collaboration and transparency with the move to modern office spaces slated in 2016. • A great balance of knowledge and respect for the history of the company and the iconic brand mixed with new ideas and influence of new talent. • New health and wellness program launching in Q2. • A revamped HR organization that focuses on transparent employee feedback, developing current employees, attracting top candidates for openings, and focuses on all aspects of employee benefits. Some required processes take too long, but the organization is still being filled out.

Cons

• While they are being removed, silos remain. Information sharing across functions does not always occur. Misalignment of functional goals still exists. • Company information sharing is improving, but is still too slow. Quarterly town halls led by the CEO are great, but a more structured method of sharing internal company wins and challenges with all employees in closer to real time is needed.
