Pros

They have really great, hardworking people and a product that meets a need in a niche market. They also have strong benefits and awesome snacks.

Cons

Unfortunately the toxic culture that is perpetuated by the CEO prevents Movemedical from effectively utilizing their team of great technical people. The CEO has a pattern of giving vague direction and then berating and belittling his team when they don’t execute the way he expects. He calls out and compares employees to each other in a group setting, making people feel undervalued, unappreciated, and embarrassed. Several employees have mentioned that they feel this behavior crosses the line of what is appropriate. This negative culture has resulted in low productivity and huge turnover. Movemedical has lost several great employees due to this. Some employees have spoken up to try to make a positive change to the culture, but the CEO has refused to accept that this behavior is inappropriate. It’s really a tragedy. Movemedical has a great product and huge potential, but I don’t see them being able to scale up until they can overcome this major hurdle.

We appreciate you sharing your opinion. We’ve maintained that Movemedical is not the right fit for everyone, and it’s true that we won’t be a good fit for engineers that aren’t self aware and humble with their technical abilities. As a team, there isn’t a more helpful group of people, including the CEO, but people here need to ask for help when they are struggling. We are all improving and it’s ok to make mistakes here. The CEO isn’t perfect and will continue to improve. However, we recommend prospective employees read other reviews and ask folks currently at Movemedical, as this review isn’t an accurate reflection. Growing company with a great culture that has huge growth potential!

Pros

Movemedical is a close knit family environment that encourages a culture of support and collaboration. There are no glass ceilings, politics, or drama. The executive management team is hands on and provides regular performance feedback and opportunities for growth. Ideas are strongly encouraged and processes are adjusted frequently to make improvements based off of suggestions and lessons learned. Movemedical has worked hard to provide clarity around every position so each person knows what they are responsible for, what they are supposed to do, and how to do it. We work hard and play hard! There are frequent events, lunches, and outings to keep things light. The corporate office is awesome - specious with free snacks and drinks! There are many examples of people being promoted and working their way into new positions and gaining new experience. There really is no limit. This is the place to go for personal and professional growth.

Cons

Movemedical is a place for people who are self sufficient and motivated to learn. Those what need to be told what to do without taking initiative would probably struggle. There is not a lot of hand holding which can either be a pro or a con depending on your perspective. Once you join, you'll kick yourself for not finding this company sooner.

Pros

Culture - Lots of great people at Move and a lot of teamwork. Everyone is willing to help out wherever they can to help our clients succeed. Experience - Move has a lot of experience building quality software. Bo, the CEO, still writes code to this day. As a software engineer, that's awesome because you know that he understands the complexity of writing software. Benefits - Move has great benefits, including awesome health insurance, unlimited PTO, snacks and the best computer hardware you could ask for. Focus - the company is very focused on building the best software possible for the medical device industry.

Cons

Move expects ownership from its employees which can mean working some nights or weekends when necessary which may not be for everyone. However, it is refreshing to have ownership and deliver of your core competency.
