Pros

Decent pay for being retail and nice benefits

Cons

Consistent policy changing, lots of turnover, poor management from the top down. Company went bankrupt and no employees got raises for an entire year. ZERO SLACK within covering shifts and dealing with call outs

Pros

The layout of the store was easy to navigate. Two managers at the lacey store were good, the others were mediocre.

Cons

They had no idea what they were doing when they opened the grooming salon.

Pros

The people here are great, for the most part. Our regular customers are wonderful. Working with customers to help them find solutions for their pets is rewarding. Great training program, especially if you have pets of your own. You'll learn a lot here! The pay is great for retail and the benefits are excellent and affordable (The last place I worked wanted $300/month for Regence. We have Regence here and I think I pay $75-80/month for medical, dental, vision, and life). In-store events are fun and you get to work with and donate to local shelters. If you want a promotion and work for it, it's not hard to get, especially if you're willing to move stores to promote. There are several stores, so that's not hard to do.

Cons

The company is going through some changes, but most of them are for the better. If change is hard for you, this could be a con. The work is more physical than you might think in retail. You are on your feet a lot and stocking shelves of dog and cat food and kitty litter is a work out. Again, this is only a con if you see it that way. If you know what you're getting into, it's fun, great learning, and great exercise. If you want to move up in stores, you can do that anywhere, but if you want to move into Home Office, it helps if you live close to the Home Office.
