Pros

pups, meet a lot of great people, decent pay, great discount

Cons

Wow where to start: If you have a bad manager, you will have the worst time of your life. There is so much oversight on the manager/district manager area. Some district managers let their managers get away with abusing their employees. Some stores are insanely strict about literally everything from how you greet people to what kind of voice you say things in. Managers that are awful always hire awful people so the level of incompetence is always there. Mud Bay is just a corporation pretending to be a “small business.” They act like they value their employees but definitely do not. They advocate for promoting within, but managers are most always outside hires and make it difficult to move up in the company. Mud Bay does this strange thing called a development plan, which means if they don’t want to promote you, they will lie to you and put you on a development plan for 2 years with no intention of ever promoting you. There is ridiculous scheduling oversight on the district manager’s part because a manager should not be able to schedule someone close/open shifts once a week! Mud bay is growing way too fast and has lost their focus on small business with great quality. There is literally 0 chance of you having a life outside of work because the scheduling is always ridiculous.

Pros

Overall, it was a pretty good place to work. If you love animals, you get to be around them all the time. Above minimum wage. I loved my co-workers and most customers were amazing. I started at $13.50/hr and the offer some health benefits for full time employees.

Cons

Not many cons! Different work environment at each location. I worked at one location that was very strict about keeping phones in lockers during work hours. I thought that this was pretty belittling. Just tell you’re employees not to use their phones. I like to keep my phone on me for emergencies. When I switched locations, the environment was much more relaxed and supportive.

Pros

You are really well educated in everything about pet nutrition. Most of the people are amazing to work with. The discount is wonderful. Green Light Courses mean you are always training & learning Promotions within the company Many opportunities if you are an artist, enjoy planning events, or being creative.

Cons

They are growing to fast with out fixing internal problems. Not enough career pathways for Oregon stores. Big ideas but not thought out well before executing sometimes. Manager's and above have way to much work load and no work/life balance. Below that you will have a work/life balance.
