Pros

Generally a positive atmosphere. Good salary, especially for a rural area.

Cons

The longer I am here, the more aware I become of intra-department team member sabotage and alienation, and unhealthy competition between some departments' managers for a bigger piece of the total budget when current department expenditures are often a waste of money and effort. Be careful about relocating to Oskaloosa. There is little infrastructure here, poor medical care, school quality is questionable and very few social services. It seems more business are closing, including JC Penneys, which was the only real clothing/ department store in town. These closings appear to be a pattern, including in Ottumwa (south of Osky), which seems to be closing doors at an alarming rate. Perhaps this is signaling a greater economic problem in the region. While Musco's product is sold to a specific professional market, insulating our jobs somewhat from local economic woes, it does still mean that your family and your quality of life may be affected. At the least, you often have to drive over an hour to reach the services you want- or need.

Pros

As a field tech you get to see sights most people will never see. Working behind the scenes at location like Nascar events, NFL stadiums, the Olympic games or just your local high school sports field, be it football, baseball, tennis...etc. Company pays for Hotel stay. Hotel are Holiday inn type standard 4 star, not forced to stay at lower 1-2 star motels. you keep reward points from hotel membership

Cons

As a field tech you put in many long hours driving to job location in the company van. van seats comfort is poor . There's no cash per diem . your are allowed a $50 a day charge on the company credit card for meals. Many many long hours working solo . This job is for a single person with no personal life.

Pros

Co-workers. Majority of them are nice and good to work with.

Cons

Management. Specifically Susie and Jeff. Since the switch over with Joe, things have really taken a turn for the worse. Susie wants all coordinators to just be robots and do more and more work all for no additional pay. She now has taken 3 jobs and combined them all into one for the coordinators. We cant keep up with all the additional duties. Pay is on the lower end of the scale, especially when you take into account all the extra work from other departments that we now have to do. This has also resulted in numerous people leaving. Moving into a different position within the company is next to impossible if you are in the Muscatine location. All opportunities are mainly held at the headquarters in Oskaloosa. Communication through out the company is lacking as well. You usually hear about changes from other people before you ever hear about it from your management.
