Pros

You feel good about the people and families you are trying to help.

Cons

No support from regional management. They do not listen to your needs and what would work in your region. Unrealistic expectations. Shady business practices. Money does not stay local. HUGE turnover problem and it makes it that much harder to be successful when regional management is burning all of your bridges. They hire the wrong people and don't treat the few good ones well. In the dark ages when it comes to programs and events. Will not let go of events that don;t work in your region and let you do event's that would. Very unorganized and ill prepared.

Pros

Getting to know and working with the families that benefit from the services Good choice for my first experience into the nonprofit world-I really experienced ALL types of fundraising and learned which ones I liked and which did not work (although I wasn't given the authority to change which programs our offices did/did not participate in)

Cons

Continual changing/mandating of programs, policies, structure of events Stopped providing funds for wheelchairs-a major necessity for many individuals with MD Unrealistic expectations by senior management No time or interest in celebrating major milestones in fundraising No national database Micromanagement of staff's every move Underutilizing trained professional staff to make telemarketing calls
