Pros

They do care about the clients and are faithful to research for MD.

Cons

They do not care about the employees as people. No feedback - positive or negative. Their current attempt to upgrade into the 21st century is making things worse by eliminating people but keeping the old image. Everything is bottom line.

Pros

The families are wonderful and very appreciative of the work you do. The sponsors are wonderful, especially the firefighters.

Cons

By far the WORST job I have ever had. The turnover rate of employees is unbelievable. In the 2 years I worked for MDA I saw 22 people come and go in a small 15 person office! Your work is not appreciated - they always push you to do more! They claim to have a good work/life balance which is totally not true. You are nothing to them. They use you and wear you down until you have nothing left.

Pros

Getting to meet families who were affected with MD, working one on one with Sponsors

Cons

There is no balance of personal and professional life. You are expected to give so much of yourself day in and day out. During the long interview process you are sold a dream as to what the position is, however when you step in it is a different story. They have absolutely NO database for donors, so many times you are contacting people repeatedly. There is no cross reference as too what people/companies were contacted. They are a VERY grassroots fundraising organization, cold calling and stalking potential donors. The collateral used during presentations is laughable. Their expectations are unrealistic at the very least. There was so much micromanaging and unprofessional behavior by the ED. Their practices are very obselete and unprofessional. MDA is a revolving door and has a high turn over rate. There is a lot of travel involved. As a Coordinator you do everything, count, deposit money no matter what time of day it is.
