Pros

Was Easy to get started as an employee, and was a great place to help get me on my feet freshly introduced into the job market. Co-Workers are usually friendly, and often share the same interests. Corporate will typically back managers decisions. Managers would typically back Employees. Excellent teaching tool for multiple aspects of business and management.

Cons

Very little room for advancement. Very Competitive for advancement. The Knowledge required to advance from a basic worker to management was very steep and specific. Even when a chance for advancement came up, it was always based purely on time spent at the specific store, instead of a combination of knowledge, sales, and time. The difference between upper management and Managers was made clear by the upper management, and not in a subtle way. It also seemed that upper management was trained in the "my way or the highway" aspect of business. The most disturbing part of NAPA was the way in which employee notices where handled. During my time at NAPA any time an employee handed in a 2 weeks notice, the owners/upper management would ostracize the leaving employee, and usually after 2-3 days would tell them their not needed anymore.

Pros

working with what I'm good at and products i know well. Trips to other states for training are nice and educational.

Cons

Upper Management are only concerned about their pay and reminding everyone of their weight and truly do not care about employees. Disrespected everyday by people here that have a very BIG ego and make a person aware of your place daily until problems occur then "im" in charge and at fault. The General Manager and District Manager are blind to actuality and make everyone working here constantly walking on glass, depressed, and feeling used! I have GREAT ideas to improve profits and traffic based from firsthand knowledge but due to Upper management's disconnect from customers and its not "their" ideas, Mine are never implemented or even heard.

Pros

Good benefits ; uniform services

Cons

Trashy , beat-up and sometimes unsafe delivery vehicles ; poorly managed ; too many white collar types whom are out-of-touch with their employees ; too many regulations / b.s. rules ; stock too many "dead stock" parts ( lawnmower parts ?? really ?? ) , and not enough of the parts which actually sell . ALL of the company's parts have the same-colored boxes ( Balkamp , et al. ) which makes stocking these parts an exercise in frustration . Deliveries on Sundays is a waste of time .
