Pros

Strongly supports professional licensing for engineers and architects. Encourages continuing education Quickly gives responsibility and growth opportunities Locations worldwide provide greater advancement options NAVFAC is diverse enough in products and services that it's possible to transfer between fields of expertise if the right openings occur.

Cons

Large organizations will always struggle with people programs and IT programs. NAVFAC does both, but presses forward to minimize impact to employees and maximize gain. Sometimes standardization of organizational elements may not allow adequate compensation to superior workers.

Pros

Working for the gov can be rewarding, NAVFAC was not a bad place to work if you like D.C. The pay was lower than for normal engineers.

Cons

Lower than usual pay, but get raises at predictable intervals. Commuting is horrible and the pay almost guarantees you have to commute as it is not really enough to live comfortably in D.C.
