Pros

Frequent free food from vendors

Cons

NFP has a "learning curve" for Millenial employees which basically leaves the employee paralyzed by NFP's grip. They severely micromanage, to the point that it is impossible to complete work on your own, and you are not learning or growing in your position. You are only taught how to work the NFP way, guaranteeing that you can't market yourself to other employers. NFP claims to be a "family friendly" office, but the expectation to come in early and stay late without any incentive of comp time makes it impossible to have a healthy work-life balance.

Thanks for your feedback and we're sorry to hear you feel like you're not given enough autonomy to learn and grow on the job. As a company, we embrace being nimble and we encourage innovation so that we can find new and better ways to perform our jobs and service our clients. Also you can check out the many learning opportunities we have for all of our employees to take advantage of using our learning system, AcadaMe. Reach out to our NFP Learning team if you have questions about learning and development offerings that could add knowledge and value to your current role or begin to prepare you for your next role at NFP. We also encourage you to speak with your manager about the workload concerns and partner with them to set some expectations and goals that could be helpful. You can always connect with your Human Resources Business Partner for additional support as well.

Sorry you had this experience. We haven't heard this before - in fact our interns seem very engaged and in meaningful conversations with our most senior leaders. If we can do something to make your experience with us better, please reach out to your internship manager or our HR team at any time.
