Pros

These aren’t necessarily “pros” unique to this company as it is common with other workplaces but for the sake of writing something, I’d say: - 1 hour lunch - Free Peloton membership

Cons

Just for the sake of brevity, I will keep it simple. This is a TOXIC call center with EXTREME micromanagement and NO room whatsoever for any career progression. You are questioned every second of the day on why your mouse isn’t moving or why you took 10 minutes wrapping up a call or why you had to take ‘x’ amount of bathroom breaks! Oh yes, there’s a software that was installed so that the managers can monitor your screens LIVE to see how many seconds your mouse wasn’t moving and then get to interrogate you for that!!! Completely ridiculous! The brokers are extremely frustrated, unhappy and stressed out! There’s been a huge exodus of brokers and the ones still there are obviously passing time while waiting for their job offers from other better competitors. There’s no time for any background work that makes up part of a broker role like research into Insurers policy wordings and manuals to help adhere to the underwriting guidelines and limit E&O exposures. I’m just glad I didn’t start up my Insurance career with this company as I would not have been this knowledgeable and skilled at my job as the company is only interested in keeping you on the phone 24/7 and working you as a robot! I wouldn’t even recommend this place to new brokers kicking off their insurance careers as it’s such a redundant place and no room to grow. The mental, emotional and psychological stress we go through everyday working here is PALPABLE! You are working knowing that someone who has nothing else to do, is just sitted at their desk looking at your screen LIVE while you work so that they can have something against you once your mouse stops moving! Unbelievable but it’s the reality! Management does NOT care about the employees and are NOT open to feedbacks. I would not recommend this place AT ALL!

Pros

Hours, holidays, work-life balance. The company says they're diverse but the employees are not as accepting.

Cons

The benefits are very expensive. I cannot afford health care even though I'm paying in the neighborhood of $200/month for insurance. The deductibles are ridiculous. Company organization is getting worse as time goes on. People leave, aren't replaced, and the work is left to the remaining employees with no appreciable salary bump. There is no clear path for advancement. Nepotism and favoritism are an issue as they can be anywhere else. However, allowing managers to punch down to customer facing employees even though many complaints is not an effective strategy for growth. I've personally seen multiple instances of racism from other employees to the public. Beware if you apply here. The higher-ups only pay attention to numbers. The human side of the day-to-day work is not considered when positions and clients are shifted around.

Thank you for the feedback. First and foremost, racism in any form is not tolerated at NFP. Employees are encouraged to report any instances via our EthicsPoint hotline at 855-296-9085 or visit https://nfp.alertline.com. If you feel comfortable sharing more details on the examples you referenced please reach out to me directly. Regarding your other comments, we actively manage our healthcare plans with a focus on care quality and affordability. The realities of the market make this an increasingly daunting challenge, but we remain committed to improvements that are meaningful to our employees and their families. In terms of workload, an experience in which you feel overwhelmed and undervalued is definitely not our goal. We welcome a conversation focused on better understanding the issues and sustainable solutions. The success of our PeopleFirst culture depends on active and constructive employee engagement, from identifying areas in need of improvement to ideas for the specific improvements themselves. -Mary Steed, Chief People Officer
