Pros

NGP VAN embraces progressive ideals in the workplace and allows for the freedom of expression. The organization is doing some amazing work for their clients.

Cons

*Poor Compensation Packages* The turnover has recently increased in the last year, the organization needs to focus on improving the wage disparity through out the organization. HR needs additional resources to as the organization continues to grow and those have yet to be provided. We deserve a living wage for the work we're doing, if things don't change the company could have some troubling issues in the future. The fact that you can't negotiate with a progressive organization is ridiculous!

Great Day-to-Day Culture, Disappointing Pay

Pros

NGP VAN plays an important role in progressive and Democratic politics. People are friendly and the work culture is great. You can wear what you want and be yourself at work. The company is growing rapidly and doing well.

Cons

It's very difficult to be compensated for your growth and additional responsibilities. At least one team has a $20,000 pay disparity between mid-level employees with similar roles. Managers aren't empowered to give raises and promotions. Every increase has to be approved by the CEO, who often says no. If you come onboard, negotiate a salary you'll be comfortable with for at least two years. Sick days and vacation days come from the same pool, so folks rarely take the sick-time they need to recover.

Pros

EveryAction is a progressive organization with values to be proud of. The people working here are a pleasure to be around every day, and the company offers fun perks like Social Fridays, a monthly Bagel Monday, a kitchen stocked with snacks and drinks, and birthday celebrations. Dress code is casual, so you get the freedom to express yourself at work. My experience with direct managers has been pretty positive: laid back, flexible, supportive of PTO requests, and open to feedback. It is pretty easy to do well in this position, and you get exposure to many interesting nonprofit clients through the job.

Cons

Compensation is an issue base pay as an SDR is $40k, with NO room for negotiation, and the commission structure needs improvement. While EveryAction boasts progressive values, it fails to pay junior level employees a livable wage in an expensive city. Similarly, professional development is not taken seriously enough, and it is challenging to move up into other roles. The company will sometimes pay for professional development courses/opportunities, but under the condition that you stay a year or pay them back. Formal reviews and raises are only permitted at the end of the year, and there is no opportunity for advancement aside from this limited time period. While management has been receptive to hearing feedback, they have been slow to implement real changes.
