Pros

– Rewarding to work on a product that has a progressive mission and cause – Friendly colleagues, positive/encouraging work environment, good company culture – Middle management, staff, and entry-level staff are very diverse – Casual dress code, a fridge always stocked with La Croix and snacks – Lots of room for creativity and experimentation (a yearly Hackathon!) – Great opportunities for learning and career development

Cons

– Raises, reviews, and promotions are only done at the end of the year (even if you were hired mid-year) so it's very difficult to negotiate. – Quite a few positions have very low pay relative to similar positions in the same fields and region. – PTO policy is a major sore point, there is no distinction between sick time and vacation time with just 15 PTO days a year. As a result, this encourages people to come into the office sick (resulting in other people getting sick) or working from home (which means longer recovery time) – The upper management/executive team, including some new hires, is mostly white men and mostly white.

Pros

Colleagues are kind and interesting. Our clients are fun and progressive.

Cons

Abysmal pay for junior employees with very little chance for growth. Terrible communication between management and staff. HR is unapproachable and understaffed. Bias towards male employees in advancement and in upper echelons of leadership. Tout "progressive" policies but don't walk the walk - especially with PTO/sick leave. Only offer yearly reviews and if you haven't been there a year when your review comes up in December you are deemed ineligible for a raise.

Pros

-Laid back office environment -Snacks -Free beer on Fridays -Decent work/life balance

Cons

-Top leadership has very little business acumen. They've got a lot of experience on democratic campaigns and very little in commercial business. -"shut up and do it" mentality coming from leadership. Not open to criticism or willing to hear out other options. Most managers just accept that reality and do as told by executives rather than push for a better or more feasible idea. -very incestuous workplace, more like a college party than a place of work. -turnover is huge. most employees come and go fairly quickly. -Sketchy sales practice locks customers in unknowingly and customers who have decided to cancel due to dropping out of a race or insufficient funds will be harassed vigorously for payment. -Very low pay relative to similar positions elsewhere in the area. -Little opportunity for career growth.
