Pros

-Depending on the department you work in, if you truly love hockey, then you will love coming to work every day. -Option to telecommute is clutch if you have an emergency that forbids you from coming in the office, sick or inclement weather. -Decent discount to the NHL Store, an allotment of tickets to NHL games, access to events at MSG/Prudential, the opportunity to travel throughout the season are all great perks to the job. -If you want a career in sports, this is a great networking opportunity should you decide to leave. It is a very insular industry and people in the NHL are well connected to those at networks and other leagues. Great place to learn the ins and outs.

Cons

-You won't get rich working at the NHL. Sports doesn't pay well. I was underpaid when comparing my job title to that in other industries. -Getting fired is virtually impossible. While some may view that as a good thing, that means that people who should have been gone a long time ago still have a place at the NHL. I am no advocate of people losing their jobs, but I've worked with people who would have been terminated at other sports leagues much less anywhere else for the things they did while on the clock. -You can feel overwhelmed by small staff size. From what I have seen in person out of other sports leagues, the NHL pales in comparison when it comes to personnel. -The NHL doesn't have the autonomy the other sports leagues do. Again, unlike the other leagues, everyone is in one building from the commissioner to legal, so everything is magnified to a greater extent.

Pros

Great medical benefits, ability to obtain tickets for concerts at MSG & Prudential Center. Great relationships with my fellow employees, rare at some places. Looks good on resume

Cons

Senior Management is horrible and miserable, minuscule salary increases and laughable bonuses. Favoritism is extremely apparent and lowers morale of hard working employees. If I could give no stars I would!!!!
