'Middle Management'- Being of the size of Actimize, you will not believe the amount of politics that is played here. Its all about who you know. The senior above you, will make sure you cannot speak to people above him/her with the issues you have. Company doesn't spend any money on your training, keep in mind they have specific solutions not commonly known in the market.
Performance review process is a slap on the face, it exists because they needed to show that they are now a mid tier company. neither your manager nor his manager takes it seriously, but if you have a large amount of bonus tied to your performance, the review process will definitely be used against the employee.
Regarding the reporting structure, there is no clarity who you are actually supposed to report. Manager will just talk to you once in a year, not informing you, if you have any matrix leads to report etc. Project Managers and existing seniors will tell you they have more authority than your manager basically taking you for walk until you understand the truth. On the top of that they all never seem to speak to each other about this. And despite these informal persons you are expected to report, no one is asked or takes the initiated to give feedback during your review and your Manager whom you interacted may be once or twice a year will rate you based on his/her assumptions.
'HR'- the weakest HR structure, I have ever seen. You can see that they are overworked due to continuous attrition and hiring, but don't even think of reaching out to them with any issues. They are not neutral but more on the side of the middle management and it will come to bite you, and they are RUDE!
Basically, Actimize is a place for someone who wants good pay but doesnt care about career and continue working as consultants rather than full time employees. Don't expect any raises or appreciation
Also, in case any HR reaches you for interview, do ask about vertical growth rather than moving around horizontal and how many vertical growth have happened in the company over last 2-3 years.
I am waiting to be out of this mess!
