Pros

Working with intelligent, passionate colleagues at a major news agency with various perks that can could only get at NPR. Strong on DEI mission. Nice HQ.

Cons

No bonuses, Low COLA increase, 2.5% in a city with 8% COLA annually. The standard 'raise' is 2.5%. Sporadic furlough depending on economic climate. 403b match is low. Overall, the earnings for a major city such as Washington DC are not sustainable unless you hold a bonused executive position, or you are a union member.
