Toxic Work Environment

Pros

They offer decent benefits and healthcare.

Cons

A highly toxic work environment which is embedded in the structure of the company. It starts at the executive/managerial level and trickles down to all the departments at every bureau. Sexual harassment, bullying, and quid pro quo, to name a few. When brought to the attention of the managers, they make sure to take measures to check the boxes to protect themselves and the company. There is no protection/care/consideration afforded to those victimized. They talk a BIG game and have a great reputation externally, but the employees are abused and harassed across departments. The worse part is that the execs/managers are in complete denial about the toxic culture and therefore only gaslight you when you try to talk about what's really happening and talk about real solutions.

Pros

the quality of journalism; the opportunity to work on large, national stories; the quirky mix of hard news and features; the low-key, casual atmosphere and emphasis on balancing work/family life

Cons

the organization is very top-heavy with lots of managers and senior producers; decisions about who is promoted can often seem arbitrary and based more on personal relationships rather than merit; there is little feedback on one's performance; and people's experiences really varies depending on which show/desk they work for and who they report to

Pros

Brand recognition. Incredible journalism. Product pride.

Cons

Indecisive management. Cruel coworkers. No strategy. CEO favors hiring/promoting men, often his friends. Backstabbing and rumor mills abound.
