The culture has changed to the point where equipment techs with 15-30 years experience are no longer valued. Everyone is now a data point to be manipulated for cost savings and efficiency gains. Most every department is short staffed and will stay that way as they do not intend to hire replacements if at all possible. The goal seems to be to run as lean as possible, beat the people left standing until they are burnt out, then demand them to work overtime. Management is cutting corners everywhere they can and demanding higher and higher quality. The rewards for things like record turns and outs? Donuts and t-shirts.
