      Pros

      Friendly, fun coworkers who genuinely care about the customers we serve. Good benefits, stable and interesting work. Lots of job opportunities in different fields. Company looks to promote from within.

      Cons

      Performance management is very subjective and Strong performance is not rewarded through compensation. Hard to understand company decisions. Workforce is aging, and as a result, the benefits are not very family-friendly. Professional development is largely unstructured.

      Pros

      It's a large company. It is a good place to work for younger workers starting their career. If you show initiative and drive, you will likely be given opportunities to advance. The benefit package is very competitive.

      Cons

      National Grid is a very frustrating place to work for anyone who has been there for a while. Constant churn of leadership and a trend to fill leadership positions with people who do not know the fundamentals of the business. The company has a hard time getting basic work done while new executives try to build their reputations with new "innovative" ideas. Innovation is great, but you still need to keep the shop open, the lights on, and the gas flowing. Seems we can't do that anymore. Nobody is going to get rewarded for doing the core business well and efficiently. I don't think leadership could even recognize it when it happens.
