Pros

Tries to encourage students to return to school or start school.

Cons

Pay is very poor. Operates like a for profit which isn't surprising considering that most of the mid and upper management come from that sector and it would appear don't really grasp how the state and non-profit sectors in education operate. Incredibly hierarchical. Heaven help you if you don't follow the chain of command even if they don't follow through. Prefers to hire minority employees almost exclusively. That would be considered discrimination if done the other direction. Almost no autonomy. You drown in rules.

Good stepping stone, but do not stay more than two years here.

Gain a lot of experience by wearing many hats.

Cons

Underpaid compared to other Chicago universities, leadership is constantly changing, and the environment can burn you out.
